Joe Kennett

Tampa, Florida

Joe Kennett concentrates legal practice on resolving the inevitable day-to-day concerns and issues that small to medium-sized businesses face dealing with customers, employees, partners and other businesses. He has vast courtroom experience managing cases from inception to completion, and has taken nearly 150 trials to verdict. His work with Yanger Law Group includes, but is not limited to, the incorporation of businesses, review of company contracts, complex litigation involving business fraud, breach of contract and other business disputes. Joe is licensed to practice law in the state of Florida.

Joe grew up in Palm Harbor, Florida, eventually receiving his undergraduate degree in public relations from Florida State University, in Tallahassee. He was only one of 38 applicants from a field of 2,000, which was granted acceptance into the major. After a brief stint in business and office management, he attended Florida Coastal School of Law, in Jacksonville. At Florida Coastal, he was the only student in his class to graduate early as a member of both the top nationally ranked Moot Court and Mock Trial teams. He was champion of the Spohrer-Dodd Trial Advocacy Scholarship Competition, and received the Book Award for highest grade in trial advocacy. As president of the school's American Association for Justice Organization, he revived the club from four exiting members to 78 new members. While at Florida Coastal, Joe worked over 900 hours as an intern in a wide variety of legal fields including business litigation, labor, and employment law, as well as being a member of the Florida Justice Association and the Hillsborough County Bar Association.

Immediately following an early graduation of law school, Joe was hired as an Assistant State Attorney, in the Juvenile division of The State Attorney's office in downtown Tampa, FL. He worked his way up the chain to a felony line attorney managing a caseload of hundreds of felony files, from the arraignment to the disposition of all cases, in the busiest trial division in Tampa. He wrote, filed and argued over 100 motions in limine, motions to dismiss, and motions to suppress on varying legal topics. He prepared and directed law enforcement, expert, and lay witnesses for testimony in over 150 jury and non-jury trials, ranging from misdemeanors to life felonies, only losing one jury trial during his time at the office.

Joe's experience with the State Attorney's office, business management, and background in public relations, has given him the skills and expertise to become a major asset to the Yanger Law Group. Accompanying his experience is an extensive knowledge of Florida law, tenacious research skills, determination and drive, giving him the ability to advise, counsel and advocate for his clients of Yanger Law Group.
